Catherine Fowler signs with U of Arkansas.....

FAYETTEVILLE – Conway, Ark., product Catherine Fowler and Texan Lindsay Scanlan signed their National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the University of Arkansas, Lady Razorback head coach Chris Poole announced this week.
Fowler, a 6-2 middle blocker from Conway, Ark., led the Wampus Cats to four conference tournament titles and several in-season tournament crowns in her four seasons.
Catherine enters the program as one of the best athletes ever," said Poole. "She already possesses a great jump and is very quick on the court. She will remind most fans as a young Jessica Field.”
She is ranked 26th in PrepVolleyball's Senior Ace Top 100 and was an alternate for the USA Women's Junior National Team in 2004. Fowler earned a spot on the A2 Women's Junior National Team in 2005 and will travel to Europe over this year's holiday season to play volleyball.
Fowler is a two-time all-state and all-conference selection and earned multiple all-tournament team honors during her prep career.
The youngest of three to Steve and Rhonda Fowler of Conway, Ark., Folwer has two older brothers, Jason and Ryan. Fowler's father, Steve, played basketball at Arkansas for two seasons.
“She is also a great student and plans to graduate early from high school so that she can attend the University this spring,” Poole said. “In most cases, it takes about a semester for players to get comfortable with the speed of the game, therefore her commitment to train with us this spring will put her ahead of most true freshmen next fall. Catherine is considered one of the Top 25 best 2006 graduates in the nation and we are lucky that she chose Arkansas."

OZARK Alumni, Amy Allison, chosen ALL SEC

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- University of Arkansas volleyball player Amy Allison was honored by the Southeastern Conference Thursday on the eve of the conference tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jenks, Okla., native Allison earned SEC second-team honors while Lawrence, a redshirt freshman from Sullivan, Mo., was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
"I am so proud of Amy for the recognition. It is certainly deserved," said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. "I think they would be the first to tell you that this season has been about us having great balance. I am also proud of what the other players have accomplished this season. Amy was recognized as one of the best middles in the SEC and was ranked high nationally all season in blocks per game. The SEC is getting better and better each season and it is amazing at the talent that is represented on the all-conference teams this season."

Allison finished the SEC regular season hitting .254 in conference games and leading the league in blocking with 1.88 blocks per game and 113 total blocks. She was a two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Week this year and ranks third in the nation in overall blocking.

In addition to her defense, Allison recorded 127 kills and averaged 2.12 kills per game in SEC matches. Allison was also selected to the SEC Volleyball Good Works Team earlier this week. This is her first selection to the all-conference team.
