Ozark Volleyball Academy has built a tradition of both instructional and highly competitive Volleyball in the Northwest Arkansas area. We are dedicated to developing instructional and competitive female and male players and programs for ages 8 to 80. Through excellence in coaching, well-run and well-administered programs, a philosophy of inclusiveness, and dedication to each member, Ozark Volleyball Academy is helping develop the future of Volleyball for the Northwest Arkansas community as well as the State of Arkansas (and now SW Missouri).

Ozark Volleyball Academy is fortunate to have a world class training facility to call home.  The ASSA allows our athletes to train under one roof, supervised by one central staff of paid professionals. We offer one of kind in house programs that include high repetition training, a college recruiting service, performance enhancement training, a full time administrative staff, apparel and equipment, and readily available sports medicine if needed.

The administrative/coaching staff has quality, experienced Directors/instructors, many with former and present college coaching experience. The Administrative unit is run out of our offices in Springdale, AR and manned by a full and part time staff of 5-10 capable administrators.

administration skills and dedication to handle the details and make sure things run smoothly.

We continue to reach out to the entire community in an effort to grow and promote the great sport of Volleyball in the Mid South area of the United States.

CLUB PHILOSOPHY

Athletes first, winning second!

Our commitment is to the individual athlete and the team. Winning is a great by-product of a great program with dedicated players, coaches and parents. We will produce a winning program through the hard work of all three groups. In the end, winning must be left up to the athletes. Coaches and parents cannot win the game, so once the whistle blows for serve, it is the players have to take the court and win the day.

The self-esteem and confidence of every player will be maintained at all times. Players, coaches and parents will NEVER demean any athlete in this program. Winning programs have winners for players, coaches and parents. The literature clearly shows that superior athletic performance and life performance involves high self-esteem individuals. A program with high self-esteem is a winning program, regardless of the score.

Ozark Volleyball Academy is an ELITE program, not an ELITIST program. All players that show up will be expected to give their best effort and are expected to offer a higher degree of dedication than most of their peers. We will train Intensely  and AS A COLLECTIVE and also have fun in the process. Our concept of Practicing as a COLLECTIVE is unique and will give us a competitive advantage in the long run.

This HAS NOT been a problem for players and parents in the past for club teams that we have developed. Many athletes and parents are not used to participating in competitive sports programs that train as a group (and less as individual teams) feel the team can win, have fun, AND train at a highly intensive pace. Every player and coach will be an integral part of the program and will have an important role to play.

If you or your parents feel the need to be viewed as BETTER than other players on the team, as thus aren't prepared to be intense, you will probably not fit in well with our coaching and operating philosophy.

Commitment

The coaches are committed to teaching and preparing athletes for success. The coaches will give 100% attention to ensuring every player is receiving the coaching needed to learn.

Players are committed to showing up ready and eager to learn. Players commit to becoming an important part of a winning team through hard work and dedication.

Communication

The most important learning environment is one, in which everyone is listening and understanding. Our team environment will stress positive, open and honest dialogue. Players are expected to demand to be taught the proper skills. Coaches should expect players to come eager to learn. The coaches will not waste your time; do notwaste theirs. 

Initiative

Players are expected to want to learn to play volleyball. Show up ready to work hard. Go hard or go home. You owe it to yourself and your team. Practice makes permanent. Teams that practice tough, play tough. If you do not leave tired, you probably were not going all out.

Coaching Style

Our program is based on the coaches demonstrating the skills, answering questions, and then asking the athletes to perform the skills. We will spend the first 3 to 4 practices teaching the athletes how to listen and absorb the coaching and how to take responsibility for applying the coaching they are receiving. TV has ruined listening skills. Our style of coaching will require listening and paying attention for long stretches of time. This is initially very difficult. However, once the player is paying attention, the learning process accelerates. Our program methodology consistently produces higher caliber players in a shorter period.

 “Trying” is a dirty word. As Yoda said to Luke Skywalker, “Don’t try, do!” Players either “do” or “don’t do.” Coaches will not give points for trying and none should be expected.
